Manchester United travelled to Wolverhampton in this mid-week clash at Molineux Stadium. The Premier League match ended with Wolverhampton Wanderers winners coming from a goal down.
Manchester United took the lead early in the first half with a fantastic 20 yard strike from midfielder McTominay only for Jota to score the equalizer by beating the offside trap.
Ashley Young was sent off for the red devils having received two yellow cards. Whilst this didn’t change the game directly, having 10 players surely affected the team.
Whilst Manchester United controlled many parts of possession, this was also the case when we played here several weeks ago in the FA Cup. Wolves keep the shape of their formation extremely well and the team in the midlands are always looking for controlled counter-attacking.
It can be argued that this comes as no surprise and the players should have been prepared for these tactics. The second goal for Wolves came as an own goal from defender Chris Smalling, a player we are not convinced about on recent performances.
With the next game against FC Barcelona in the Champions League, fans will be hopeful we can be better prepared.
