Corry Evans

Sir Alex "We must either use them or we lose them"

It only seems like yesterday but it has been all of 15 years since former Liverpool star and BBC football pundit Alan Hansen coined his memorable phrase “You’ll never win anything with kids” following Manchester United’s 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the 1995-96 campaign. Those “kids” of course went on to win the double by the end of that season forcing the unfortunate Hansen to forever be stuck with those words.

One step at a time for Corry Evans at United

Having your family around you when you’re a long way from home might be the preferred option for most Being 3,500 miles from familiar surroundings and well away from the comfort zone, it would maybe be nice to have your big brother there. Teenage Manchester United midfielder Corry Evans, however, is happy to go it alone as he goes about establishing himself in the Northern Ireland senior squad.

Transfer madness as names are linked to United

To think that this madness will continue until August, it’s enough to do your head in! Who’s being chased by who, who’s staying, who’s definitely going, transfer fees resembling telephone numbers thrown around like confetti even though most football fans will have difficulty comprehending their enormity. Then of course there are the huge wages offered to tempt players some of whom are barely out of their teens. Little wonder that it’s known as the silly season.
