Former Manchester United goal keeaper’ Tim Howard sent Everton to the Fa Cup final after he saved two penalty kicks which knocked out Manchester United and end their quadruple dream.
Although Man United lost the game, Sir Alex Ferguson has defended his decision to play with a young squad that won the Carling Cup last month and he believed that the team was the strongest available before heading to Wembley.
“Trying to deal with the tiredness after Wembley, especially after extra-time, was always going to be the issue,” Ferguson said.
“But there is enough freshness in the rest of the squad to be alright on Wednesday, that’s how we planned it.
“We’re coming to the period when it’s game after game after game, it’s all go now. Hopefully, I’ll pick the right teams and I can understand how there would be some criticism because it didn’t work for us yesterday.
“But I’m absolutely convinced I picked the right team. I’ve no regrets about it at all.”
I think United’s squad for the FA Cup was good but they paid for it. Obviously the FA Cup is not that important to Ferguson. I thought they should have left Macheda on but whatever.
