Michael Owen was given a start in Manchester United second game of Asia tour 2009. The new number seven repaid the faith of Sir Alex Ferguson by scoring the second goal of the game against Malaysia XI.
Sir Alex Ferguson gave a chance for the players who didn’t start the last game with Owen, Macheda, Tosic and Carrick were included in the starting line-up.
The first goal came after 11 minutes, Fabio cut inside and crossed and the ball found Darren Fletcher at the back post. The Scot cut the ball back and found Macheda who controlled the ball before firing home into the bottom corner to give Man United the lead.
After Only two minutes, Michael Owen scored his second game of the tour when Tosic crossed from the left to Macheda who missed the ball somehow but Owen was there to pounce on some indecision in the Malaysia defence and taped home.
In the second half, the game wasn’t that fast due to many changes from both teams. Anderson had a great chance to score his first goal for United when O’shea put the ball on plate for the Brazilian five yards out but Anderson fired the ball wide in strange way (As usual!).
The final score was 2-0. During the game, Nani showed good sign to bounce back after his failure last season. Also Berbatov showed nice touches but he still needs to focus in scoring goals.
