Manchester United face their first big test of the season as in-form Arsenal visit Old Trafford on Saturday evening. The two sides are among the favourites to claim the Premier League title this season.
United claimed the Premier League crown in the corresponding fixture last season, after a 0-0 draw. The champions will be looking for three points rather than one from this time around.
However Arsenal have been in fantastic form this season, scoring 10 goals in their first two Premier League games, including a 6-1 hammering of Everton on the opening day of the season.
The champions haven’t lost at home to the Gunners since Emmanuel Adebayor scored a late winner in the clash of September 2006. United have the better overall record against the Gunners at Old Trafford, the Red Devils have won 44 games out of the 79 played, with 21 draws and Arsenal winning just 14.
United are still without keeper Edwin Van der Sar, centre-back Rio Ferdinand and Brazilian full-back Rafael. However Sir Alex Ferguson has a good selection headache up front with strikers Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen all scoring in the 5-0 defeat at Wigan last weekend.
The big team news for Arsenal is that key midfielder Cesc Fabregas is doubtful for this clash. Tomas Rosicky could be set for a return after recovering from a hamstring injury. The Gunners are also missing another creative talent Samir Nasri who is recovering from a broken leg.
Manchester United possible line-up:
Foster, Neville, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Scholes, Fletcher, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov
