Manchester United are looking to break down Man City winning form when they are playing this Sunday at Old Trafford. United will look to prove that City revolution and their new wealth won’t bother them to keep the Premier League trophy at Old Trafford for the fourth year in row.
Man United rested many players like Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand last game in Turkey and the team will be fresh to face the local rivals and teach them a lesson.
While Van der Sar and Owen Hargreaves are still under treatment in the physioroom, Sir Alex Ferguson maybe without Rio Ferdinand for the game after the defender aggravated his groin injury in the win against Tottenham last time out. Johnny Evans will step in to replace Ferdinand and partner Nemanja Vidic in the center of back four.
Sir Alex Ferguson thinks the clash with City has more interest as City trying to enter the top four. But he believes Liverpool are United’s major local rivals.
“To me, Liverpool has always been the derby,” he said.
“It is because of the history. My aim was always to do well against them. It is hard for me to think any other way.”
Sir Alex also doesn’t care whether Carlos Tevez will be fit to play in the derby in not as he labeled Emmanuel Adebayor as the main danger in Mark Hughes’ squad.
“I am not bothered whether Tevez plays or not – Manchester City’s best player won’t be playing,” said Ferguson.
“Adebayor is their star player, there is no question about that. He has scored in every game so far.” Ferguson said.
