Many reports today suggest Manchester United are going to bring the new Argentinean international youngster Angel Di María. Diego Maradona thinks Benfica’s star can play with the best clubs in Europe and Man United are one of those clubs of course.
But will we see the 21-year old winger at Old Trafford on January? For sure Sir Alex Ferguson will decide this. I think the media usually attached Manchester United name with any new football young guns and after Alex Teixeira and Douglas Costa, it is the time for Di María.
I didn’t watch any game for Di María with Benfica, but I do remember some games when he used to play with the Argentina U20 in 2007 World cup where he impressed European clubs scouts with his remarkable performance.
There is no doubt that Di María is a skillful player and can be useful for Man United. But in my little view, I think it would be better to see Spanish’s winger David Silva with Man United rather than the Argentinean. There are many reasons to say that, first, David Silva proved his talent at high level with Spain international team during Euro 2008, while we still heard nothing special about Di María with Argentina under the management of Diego Maradona. In addition for that, Silva is the main force in Valencia with David Villa.
Maybe, Sir Alex Ferguson will watch Di María today…but one game isn’t enough to amaze the Scottish. (Man United scouts were tracking the progress of Gabriel Obertan for three years before signing him this season!)
Finally, Di María have just signed a new deal with Benfica last month which add 3 more years to his current deal with a €40 million release clause which Man United can double it to get Valencia due David Villa and David Silva.
