The eight Champions League groups have been completed, all sixteen qualifiers for the knock out stage have been identified – and Manchester United now have a much better idea of who may be their next opponent in February. Nine clubs will definitely be avoided because they are either fellow Group Winners, Premier League clubs who cannot meet each other and Valencia who were in the same group as United in the first round. The clubs that United CANNOT possibly meet are Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, Schalke 04, Bayern Munich, Shakhtar Donetsk, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal
The next opponent for United therefore comes down to one of these clubs
Inter Milan
AC Milan
AS Roma,
Lyon,
Marseilles
FC Copenhagen
Three from Italy, two from France and a surprise packet from Denmark. The outcome shows just how boringly predictable the Group stages of the Champions League have become. With the possible exception of Copenhagen, every other qualifier could have easily been predicted before a ball was even kicked. The full draw will be made by UEFA on Friday December 17.
Which club would you like United to be drawn against?
ohhhh Wonderfull Wonderfull Copenhaaaagen! my choice all day long.
Or a little visit to Rome would be nice.
I fear none of them, Real, Barca, Inter, AC, Munich, None of the Londoners are a threat anyway…I fear none and find mysef wanting one of the Milan sides as we can beat anyone.
Rafa Benitez will be a tasty clash Andy, that’s if he survives at Inter until February.
“As we can beat anyone” Now thats a fan! You think we can win the Champions league Andy?
i tell myself that united will win the champions league final 3-0
I need a more reliable supplier of my cocaine. Its clearly not having an effect.
Am still in the real world, dammit.
yes we can !!!!!i think anyone but we will play for ac milan
Let’s be totally realistic guys. Every single one of these ties will turn on a knife edge. One single referee decision, one strike that hits the woodwork and comes out or one that goes in. Who the hell wants to be a manager? All we can do is keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best
Christ IF i had a knife i know where I would bury it.
I want to be a football journalist and i will be, trust that. i read more than I type.
“Just cutting my teeth just now on United blogs”
It does not matter who Manchester United is drawn to play against, even the eight who have qualified as leaders of their respective groups. Bring them on and we will survive. There is no fear in the team for any team on earth.
We can beat them all, easily….this will be another vintage year for United, a treble is in the making.
I fear for Arsenal, get iether Madrid or Barce and their out, Arsenal wouldn.t stand a chance against one of the la liga giants or infact Munich as well.
Fear massively for Chelsea, the over-rated london club hadn’t a chance in making it to the next round as they just aint good enough…..average from he defence to the front line, chelsea doesnt measure up to the United’s, Madrid’s, Barcelona’s, Inter’s or Bayern’s of this world and will never win the big one.
i really need a trip to rome, coz its the place we met barcelona last year!
To be honest I hope we get one of the Milan teams just so it keeps the team on it’s toes I wouldn’t want to see them going out to Copenhagen to cofident and then being beat but I think we could beat anybody in the compotition. It did cheese me off a little bit watching the English teams in the last of the group game beause the comentators kept goin on about how much we wanted to avoid the Spanish clubs. They mite be playing well but they way they go on you’d think that we were just going to role over and die the last couple of years when the English sides have played the Spanish I’m sure we’ve won more games bring on barca in the qauters.
The fat Spanish waitor back at old trafford!!!!!!
I wish to see the clash wid Italian sides; United can beat anyone and I feel the players are capable of bringing 4th champions league trophy to Old Trafford,, Still I remember 7-2 thrashing of AC MILAN and 7-1 at home to Roma,, but to be honest I prefer to see Benitez if he wont be sacked,, its the tym to take revenge……..GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED
