It’s a record that is never likely to be broken. The Manchester United trio of Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes have made over 2100 senior appearances between them in a total of 57 years, winning 74 medals, ALL under manager Sir Alex Ferguson – and it’s not over yet with both Giggs and Scholes announcing that they will continue for at least one more season. The statue of sixties legends Law, Best and Charlton has become known as the Holy Trinity and is one of the most famous landmarks at Old Trafford. Can there be any doubt that it’s only a matter of time before a Trinity statue Mark 2 will be erected next to the original one?
Football has changed dramatically since these legends made their debuts. The one certainty is that the mould has been well and truly broken because no club will ever see their likes again.
Would you like to see another Trinity statue erected at Old Trafford?
