On Wednesday Manchester United face FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League in a highly anticipated game. Manchester United fans understand that they will be under dogs going into the game but have the faith that all Red Devils have. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hope to try and replicate the spirit that the team had 20 years ago when he was playing for the team. The Norwegian famously scored the injury time goal to secure the Treble. We are hoping the attack force we have in place will be enough to get past the Catalan giants.
Solskjaer told ESPN FC: “We challenged each other every day in training. There were fights and there was an inner justice that I’ve not seen in too many teams.
“We never, ever accepted anyone being below par in training. We kicked each other and we had to win every single day. That moved over into games and we never gave in. There was an unbelievable team spirit.
I want my players to really push each other and demand 100 per cent attitude from each other every single day. That’s the only way you can improve and it’s the only way you can win.
We had something special. It’s a different group now and the challenge is, ‘How can I make these players winners as we were?’
Solskjaer said: “We’re playing against a good team but there is something special about this group of players. It will be fantastic.”
The Old Trafford faithful will be in full spirit on Wednesday, with an unbelievable atmosphere hoping to push the team on. FC Barcelona are in formidable form and will be looking to get the away goals to take back to Camp Nou for the second leg. According to SkySports we do have the highest shooting accuracy in Europe.
What are your predictions, can we pull it off the same way we did in Paris? Where will you be watching?
