United wants a repeat of the 1999 Valencia defeat

Spain’s Valencia comes to Old Trafford on Tuesday night hoping to register their first away win over Manchester United and collect the three points which will take them to the top of Group C. Three previous visits produced two draws and a defeat. With both sides assured of progressing to the knockout stage of the Champions League, another honourable draw will not surprise especially if Sir Alex Ferguson decides to field a starting line up with one eye upon the top of the table clash against Arsenal on Monday.

Vidic may have played his last game for United

Chances that central defender Nemanja Vidic has played his last game for Manchester United appear to be increasing by the day as Sir Alex Ferguson accelerates his efforts to sign a replacement. The two front runners are Juventus’ Italian international Giorgio Chiellini and Denmark’s Simon Kjaer from Palermo. As well as an expected £20m bid from Manchester City for Vidic, Real Madrid also want to secure a deal by offering French striker Karim Benzema as a sweetener for a Vidic transfer.

Real Madrid ready to bid £20million for Patrice Evra

So here we go again, Real Madrid cannot seem to get enough players away from Old Trafford. Just in the last few years alone Real has head hunted David Beckham in 2003, Ruud van Nistelrooy (2006), Gabriel Heinze (2007) and of course Cristiano Ronaldo last year. It was then made clear recently that super striker Wayne Rooney is their number one target for next season, shown plenty of interest in central defender Nemanja Vidic and now it’s being reported that the Madrid giants are preparing to spark another transfer battle with Manchester United by launching a £20million move for French international Patrice Evra.
