Cristiano Ronaldo is convinced to play for Manchester United this season, after Sir Alex Ferguson did his best to insure that the skillful Portuguese stays for another season.
Ronaldo has been the story of the summer, as Real Madrid have tried to bring the player to the Santiago Bernabeu by offering The Glazer Family more than £60 million but Man United have been merciless in their resistance and complete refusal to even entertain the idea of selling the 23-year-old.
“The matter is closed now,” said Ferguson on Sky Sports News.
“He is a Manchester United player, it’s finished.
“He is going to play here believe me.”
Ferguson also revealed he is no closer to bringing in a new assistant manager as a replacement for Carlos Queiroz.
“No news [on a new assistant] we take our time with that,” added Ferguson.
“We hope to have someone in by the end of September but we never rush these things. It is hard to replace good men.
“We have good coaches here, I have no problems with that aspect of it.
“I am just looking for a particular type of person to assist me in certain ways.”
