Last minute goal from Dimitar Berbatov gave United a narrow 1-0 victory against Bolton at the Reebok stadium.
United and Bolton struggled to find any ease during the opening exchanges, with attacking attempts. As the match wore on, Fabrice Muamba did test Edwin van der Sar with a tumbling shot from the edge of the box, but that was as good as it got for the hosts.
United spiraled to life with the time approaching but Bolton keeper’s Jussi Jaaskelainen was in front of all United efforts to break the deadlock.
The second half then followed much the same pattern, with hard work failing to bring about goalscoring opportunities.
Half chances for Kevin Davies and Ronaldo came and went and the game looked to finish all square.
Then, in the last minute of normal time, Carlos Tevez runaway from his marker and centred for the unmarked Berbatov to score the only goal in the game.
With this victory, Man United went top with 47 points and a game in hand against Fulham. If Everton beat Liverpool tomorrow (and United win vs. Fulham) the Red devils can stay top with four points different than Liverpool.
