As I’m sure youv’e already heard Michael Owen has signed for United on a free transfer, after his lucrative Newcastle contract expired at the end of June. He has signed a two year contract with the Red Devils and has allegedly taken a massive pay-cut to join the champions.
The move has caused both delight and confusion on both Merseyside and Manchester. Some United fans are delighted to have the former England striker in their squad for next season, as they see the 29 year old as a good natural finisher with a good goal scoring record.
Yet there are United fans raising the very obvious question about the former Newcastle stars fitness. He spent almost two of his four years at St James Park on the treatment table and was seen as a big money flop by the Geordie faithful, as their club were relegated from the Premier League.
The move has been frown upon by Liverpool fans, with Owen being a former Kop idol and spending eight years playing at the club. Surprisingly though there are Liverpool who are delighted that Michael has joined our club, as they think he is a has-been and will just be arriving to pick up one last big paycheck.
I’m in the first group of supporters that think that the signing of Michael Owen on a free transfer is a masterstroke by whily old fox Sir Alex Ferguson. If anybody can get the best out of Owen its our great manager. If he stays fit he could be just the goalscorer we need to again challenge on every front next season.
He is going to be a good buy simply becoz he is a predator that relies on crosses and passes coming into his path and at Man Utd that is what he will get.

I have to agree with you on that, he is predator and I think its a great bit of business by Fergie
I always trust Fergie is the master who can make a rat to be a tiger. I believe that Owen will shine at Old Trafford under Fergie. Give him some time.
