
Manchester United finished off their Asian tour with a 8-2 trouncing of Chinese side Hangzhou Greentown. Welsh veteran Ryan Giggs scored a hat-trick and Michael Owen managed a brace as the Premier League champions strolled to victory.
Owen opened the scoring in the 24th minute, before Bulargian striker Dimitar Berbatov doubled the lead in the 34th minute with a volley. Serbian midfielder Zoran Tosic drove home the third just a minute later. Owen scored his brace in the 40th minute, acrobatically volleying Berbatov’s cross past the home keeper.
Portuguese winger Nani added a fifth goal in the 50th minute, after a clever back heel from Berbatov. Substitute Ryan Giggs made it 6-0 in the 62nd minute and then added a seventh in the 71st minute. Wang Hongyou headed home a consolation goal for the home side, before full back Patrice Evra and midfielder Anderson both hit the the post.
Giggs completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute, before Valdo smashed home a second consolation goal for home side in the 90th minute. The whole tour has proved that there is life after Cristiano Ronaldo and Carloz Tevez for Sir Alex’s men. He will be delighted with how his attacking players have performed, especially new signing Michael Owen who has looked in good shape right through the tour.
