Manchester United have slowly but surely made themselves title contenders for the Premier League this season. With the 2-1 victory yesterday against Aston Villa, the Red Devils put themselves level on points (33) with Liverpool FC with 16 games being played. This year aside from the obvious has been different than ever before with projections for winning the league to be as low as 80.
With Fernandes, Pogba, Martial and Rashford in the team, Manchester United have some of the best players in the world. Whilst Liverpool are reigning champions and have kept the majority of their star players, Manchester United are right there behind them.
Having won six titles as a player at Old Trafford, Solskjaer will have come to appreciate the importance of this narrow victory against Aston Villa.
Since losing to Arsenal in November, United have taken 26 points from a possible 31. And that trip to Anfield to play Liverpool on Jan. 17 is looking more and more critical. It has been a long time since United were involved in such a crucial game at the top of the table.
Can Manchester United win the League?
The ability of the team to come from behind and win as well as win by narrow margins means that yes, they are almost certainly capable of winning the 2020/2021 Premier League and dethroning Liverpool FC. In the second half of the season, the title race will be close but fascinating.
Many so called experts are still dashing the hopes of the team but these are the same ones have not give the team a chance since the beginning of the season. We at Truly Reds will be covering each and every game of the race so be sure to follow us.
Victory over the previous game against Wolves Solskjaer stated “We have plenty to look forward to in 2021.” The foundation has been set for a first title challenge in seven years, even if the United boss is not ready to admit it just yet.
“There’s no title race after 15 games,” he said. “You can lose the chance of being in a race in the first 10 games, of course you can; but play another 15 — get to 30 games — and maybe we can start talking about a title race, The belief is there, we’ve shown what we’re capable of and this result is massive for confidence.”
