This season could be a major season for Italian sensation Federico Macheda. The youngster made the breakthrough into the first team in spectacular style scoring two vital winners from the bench last season.
The big question is will he get more playing time this season or will he have to bide his time on the substitute bench? I think SAF will use the striker sparingly next season, but hes more likely to get playing time next season than last.
With Tevez’s exit there seemed more chance of the 17 year-old starting games, but then Sir Alex swooped for Michael Owen and the striker was demoted to fourth place striker behind Owen, Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov.
At 17 though, the youngster has all the time in the world to make a name for himself at United and seems to have the right attitude and temperament to handle life at the top level of English football. Last season’s heroics are unlikely to be his last as he looks to break into the starting line-up for years to come.
I just hope he goes on to fulfil his enormous potential at Old Trafford and doesn’t get frustrated by playing second fiddle to the three internationals ahead of him in the pecking order. If he does bide his time I believe he can go on to become a United great.
