Transfer rumours are a dime a dozen. Very few have genuine substance so they should always be taken with a huge amount of cynicism. Yet they cannot be completely ignored in case there’s the slightest grain of truth in them. Some media outlets are obviously more reliable than others so Truly Reds is prepared to report the gossip and give a rating of 1 to 5 as to how believable it’s likely be. A rating of 1 can almost certainly be dismissed out of hand while a 5 may give the story some merit and warrant a small wager. Have a look at the latest United transfer gossip being reported but be warned – only believe what you want.
Manchester United and Manchester City are set to join the race to sign Palermo midfielder Javier Pastore after both clubs missed out on Alexis Sanchez it has been claimed by Tribal Football. Udinese winger Sanchez was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League with both Manchester clubs ready to offer him a chance to prove himself in England, but it appears the Serie A star has opted for a move to Barcelona in a deal worth £32m.
Questions must now be raised as to the future of David Villa at Camp Nou. Will the Spain World Cup winner be on the way out? Can he be a better acquisition than Sanchez? Sir Alex had earmarked Sanchez as the player to add further creativity to his attack but it now seems United has joined the race for 21 year old Pastore who was the subject of a “major offer” from Chelsea. Please remember where this story is being reported therefore it can only be RATED – 2
Lens president Gervais Martel claims he has rejected bids of over 10million euros from foreign clubs for teenage winger and reported Manchester United target Raphael Varane. Martel insists the asking price for Varane has been met but is apparently unwilling to sell the 18 year old to “certain big overseas clubs” amid reports United and Real Madrid are keen on acquiring him.
Following a superb breakthrough season last term Varane has attracted significant interest and Martel confirmed to RMC radio station “Paris St Germain have made me an offer, that is probably the worst kept secret around. A second club is also interested in him, but he isn’t necessarily guaranteed first team football there either. The asking price is around £8.9million” This sounds like a typical Ferguson signing so my gut feeling is that it must be Rated – 3
Roma’s tenacious Italian World Cup winner Daniele De Rossi is supposedly the subject of interest from both United and City according to The Daily Star. Sir Alex Ferguson has been considering an £18m offer for the ferocious midfielder which is set to be eclipsed by City’s offer of £35m.
The defensive midfielder is seen as someone who can address United’s considerable lack of bit in the middle of the park since the departure of Roy Keane. Italian publication Gazetto Dello Sport has reported that De Rossi’s contract talks have stalled, with the Il Giallorossi unwilling to bow to the players request for an improved contract of €5m per year RATED – 2
Eastlands manager Roberto Mancini is set to go head to head with bitter rival Sir Alex Ferguson in a £30m battle to land Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder. Mancini has put Sneijder top of his wanted list after failing to land Alexis Sanchez from Udinese. United have also held talks with Sanchez but the Chilean has made it clear he prefers a move to Barcelona.
Starsport now understands Mancini’s growing frustration has made him turn his attentions to Sneijder. The Italian has sounded out former club Inter Milan about what it would cost to lure the Dutchman to Eastlands. The news will be a big blow to Fergie who has been tracking Sneijder for six months having earmarked the Holland midfielder as the perfect replacement for Paul Scholes. But the Scot knows he won’t be able to compete on financial terms with Sneijder demanding wages of £200,000 a week. This saga has dragged on for months so it can only be realistically Rated – 1
Rumoured to be going the other way is Dimitar Berbatov – French side Paris St Germain, backed by oil rich new owners from Qatar and with new manager Leonardo at the helm are keen on Berba’s style. But there are others chasing the classy Bulgarian. Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also believe that having proved himself in the Bundesliga with former club Bayer Leverkusen that he could add to their goal output. AC Milan are also on the look out and could be ready to test the water.
Berbatov’s agent Emil Dantchev insists there has been no movement yet for his client and says Berbatov wants to stay at Old Trafford “There is no news because we have not heard anything from anyone” he said “after we speak to United we will know more but now he is very happy to be a Manchester United player” Unfortunately, the odds of Berba leaving Old Trafford has to be at least RATED – 3
