
Manchester United visit Chelsea on Monday night in the FA Cup round of 16 tie and we want to look into the best player who played for the both clubs in their career.
There weren’t many players who played for both United and Chelsea, but at the moment Manchester United has three players who were ex-blues.
Jose Mourinho is also worth mentioning, as the Portuguese managed both sides and won the Premier League three times at Stamford Bridge.
Of course there are players that didn’t make the list, but still have to be mentioned. Paul Parker and Ray Wilkins are among them, together with Juan Sebastian Veron and the Colombian striker – Radamel Falcao.
The current stiker of Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku was also once a Blue, but played only 15 Premier League games for the club.
3. Nemanja Matic
The Serbian moved to Chelsea as a youngster in 2009, but played only two Premier League games before being sold to Benfica two years later. He rejoined the club in 2014 and went on to win the Premier League twice.
Nemanja played 121 league games for Chelsea in his second spell and joined Manchester United in the summer of 2017.
Matic is one of the best players in the Premier League in his position and
is a vital part in Solskjaer midfield, together with Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera.
2. Mark Hughes
He spent three seasons at Old Trafford at the start of his career, before playing for Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He spent one season in each, Spain and Germany and rejoined United in 1988.
The Welshman scored 116 goals in his second spell at Old Trafford and won the Premier League twice.
Hughes also won the FA Cup three times with the Red Devils He scored both goals for Manchester United in the Cup Winners’ Cup final victory over his former club Barcelona in 1991.
He signed for Chelsea in 1995 and spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge. The popular ‘Sparky’ won the FA Cup, League Cup, and the Cup Winners’ Cup with the Blues.
1. Juan Mata
Juan Mata joined Chelsea in 2011 and helped the Blues secure their first UEFA Champions League title in his debut season. He also won the UEFA Europa League the following campaign.
During his time as a Chelsea player, Mata scored 32 goals and assisted 58 more. His outstanding performances were rewarded with him being named the club’s Player of the Year twice in succession.
Mata was signed by David Moyes in January 2014. At Manchester United, he has gone on to win the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup.
He has 50 goals and 59 assist, in the Premier League, which is not a bad record.
