So Manchester United defender Patrice Evra was right all along. The Old Trafford University graduates made the Arsenal training centre schoolboys look like – well, schoolboys, in the top of the table clash which finished 1-0, should have been 2-0 and could have easily ended 3-0. Looks like the Training Centre schoolmaster Arsene Wenger needs to go back to the drawing board – once again! Meanwhile, Chancellor of the world famous Manchester United University of Football Sir Alex Ferguson can sit back and look forward to his approaching record breaking tenure on the weekend with a bottle or two of fine red.

That horrendous run of injuries which gave Sir Alex Ferguson so many nightmares this time last year are rearing their ugly head once again. Out of the 25 player squad Sir Alex selected at the beginning of the season, eight are either definitely out of contention for the visit to Villa Park on Saturday or are not expected to recover in time. Rooney, Hargreaves, Valencia, and Owen are all unavailable while Evra, Rafael, Anderson and Giggs are highly doubtful to make a full recovery.

Arrogance can be a word that is difficult to define. Think back to August 19, 2007, a special day for the blue side of Manchester, one that their fans celebrated long into the night. City won that Eastlands derby 1-0 to go top of the table while United were left languishing near the bottom, just one point away from the relegation zone. Hopes were understandably high by City fans that manager Sven Goran Eriksson was going to deliver some sort of trophy to a club that had won nothing for over thirty years. Was that arrogance or mere confidence?
