Manchester United are looking to move into second spot after beating Chelsea in their last game by winning home to promising side Wigan Athletic. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men head into the game with a 100 per cent record against the Latics in their previous six meetings.
Cristiano Ronaldo will be in high mood after being named FIFA player of the year. Ronaldo will look to be back in scoring after missing that in Chelsea game. United will be missing French Left-back Patrice Evra. He is facing three weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a foot injury against Chelsea and looks set to sit out the Red Devils’ next five games.
Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has also been ruled out of midweek action for Ferguson’s side.
