This started out as a response to a Manchester City fan who goes by the name of ‘It’s Grim Oop North’. He deserved one because his mature opinions are highly respected when compared to the many inane ones that often come in by cretins from all clubs – including our own! It was instigated by a recent article written on Truly Reds comparing the goal scoring exploits of Dimitar Berbatov with those of Carlos Tevez this season. Both the article Barbatov or Tevez? It’s almost pointless to reopen the debate as to the value Dimitar Berbatov has given Manchester United since his £31 transfer from Tottenham Hotspur because everything points to his career at Old Trafford coming to an end in the summer. Looking at some statistics from this season however may give some of his critics a different perspective when compared to his former team mate Carlos Tevez at Manchester City – who is virtually being begged to remain at Eastlands. For whatever reason, some fans either take a liking to a player or they don’t irrespective of facts and figures. So analyse these from the current season then make up your mind.

Recently retired Gary Neville never tried to hide the fact that he hated losing to bitter rivals Liverpool more than anyone else in his near 20 year career at Old Trafford. Fellow veteran Paul Scholes feels the same way about Manchester City admitting that “You hate losing against anybody, but City? It’s bad, painful. I remember losing 3-1 at Maine Road and it was horrible. We probably won’t hear the last of it if we lose on Saturday especially if they go on to win the Cup. It’s an FA Cup semi final at Wembley. It’s massive. It’s the biggest game we’ve had against City for a while. Whoever loses will be devastated.”
