So that’s it then. The decision has been made and it’s a final one. Who says so? The Manchester United chief executive David Gill that’s who. In an exclusive interview with The Independent newspaper he defends the Glazer business plan, dismisses the Red Knights and firmly insists that the club is ‘Not For Sale’. That’s it, end of story, any such thoughts are completely rejected out of hand.

Manchester United’s Champions League quarter final at Bayern Munich gave the BBC an opportunity to have a close look at two very different financial models of how clubs should operate in order to obtain long term viability. Many calls have been made for United to emulate the way that clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid are run but Germany’s Bundesliga provides another alternative which should at least be given close consideration.

Manchester United has confirmed it is freezing ticket prices next season. There has been criticism of the Glazer family for price rises since their takeover 5 years ago and many fans have joined a fast growing green and gold protest against the owners. As recently as this month there had been speculation that further increases were in the pipeline but the club has now announced that prices will be kept on hold for the 2010/11 season.
