Manchester United x Fulham: Preview

RooneyManchester United are playing their postponed Premier League game against Fulham tomorrow at Old Trafford. If the lads win the game, they will stay in top with five points different between them and Liverpool.

Wayne Rooney will return to the bench for Manchester United tomorrow for the first time since he got injured during Everton game last month.

Sir Alex Ferguson opted to leave him from the squad on Sunday FA Cup trip to Derby, a decision that was a wise one.

It allowed Rooney to get extra day training under his belt to ensure that he plays a part against Roy Hodgson’s men, even it is expected that Sir Alex starts the game with Carlos Tevez and Dimitar Berbatov up front. Read the full story

Manchester send Derby out the county

MANCHESTER United qualified to the quarter final of the FA Cup with a massive victory against Derby County at Pride Park.

United will play either Swansea City or Fulham away in the next round.

Goals from Nani, Darron Gibson, Cristiano Ronaldo and substitute Danny Welbeck kept up Sir Alex’s side hopes of an extraordinary quadruple.

The gaffer made seven changes to his side that won at West Ham last weekend in the English premier league, with Ben Foster, England’s future goalkeeper, given a start.

The Reds started strongly and Derby keeper Stephen Bywater made a brilliant reaction save to deny Park Ji-Sung. After that, Luis Nani scored United first goal from a strict 20-yard shot that Bywater could not keep out. Read the full story

Manchester United to replace Carlos Tevez with Karim Benzema or David Villa

Karim  BenzemaToday our story will be about Karim Benzema. In last summer, there were many rumors that Manchester United could sign the French striker.

These rumors have returned in the media as the winter transfer window opened. Last summer, United signed Dimitar Berbatov to add more strength to their front line after selling Louis Saha. However, this signing has caused a real problem for Carlos Tevez as he is struggling to play in the starting line-up.

Ryan Giggs extends his stay in Manchester until 2010

Today, Manchester United are pleased to announce a one year extension to Giggs’s contract which will see him playing with the reds until June 2010. Giggs, who made his first team debut for the club about 18 years ago, said: “I feel fit and I’m enjoying my football more than ever.”

Giggs, who scored the only goal against West Ham last Sunday, is well known of his professional lifestyle. He looks after himself and tries to improve his game and learn more no matter what his age is.

Ryan Giggs has won about 28 trophies with Manchester United and with the new contract we can see him reachs more than 30 as the red devils are still competing in all competitions.

Also, Giggs is holding the English Premier league’s record for most all time goal assists with 289 assists in 535 appearances. In his career Ryan Giggs never had an operation.

Real Madrid borrow 70 million euros for Cristiano Ronaldo

Even after Ronaldo has expressed his desire to continue playing at the Old Trafford, the Spanish media seem won’t stop from linking the Fifa player of the year with a move to Real Madrid.

According to AFP, Real Madrid borrow 70 million euros from the Santander private banking group to bring Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, but the Spanish radio who announced this state did not specified its source.

The loan, which is already closed, would not fund the transfer, depending on the stresses at the same radio that “Cristiano Ronaldo has an agreement with Manchester to go to Real at the end of the season for a reasonable amount.”

The Spanish sports press stated for several weeks as that Ronaldo will come to Real despite repeated rejections from the player himself and after a failed attempts from Real Madrid to land him last summer.

In January, the daily AS, a newspaper based in Madrid, said that the club had concluded a secret pact with the Portuguese and his agent Jorge Mendes.

Real Madrid are willing to pay 85 million euros or more for the transfer and pay Ronaldo gross annual salary of 12 million euros and a commission of 8 million to Mendes, according to AS.

Cadena radio said that Ronaldo had signed last summer a written agreement with the coach of Manchester, Alex Ferguson, that the Portuguese would go to Real if he wanted in summer of 2009.

But Ronaldo had stated that you only can get the truth from him and most of what the media said about him was just a lie.

Scolari sacked then Chelsea out of the title race

Scolari sacked  by ChelseaMost people were shocked yesterday when hearing that Luiz Felipe Scolari has been fired by Chelsea. Roman Abramovich could not wait more than 36 games to show Big Phil the exit door after only seven months at the Stamford Bridge.

Our manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, was surprised by this decision and blamed the modern day impatience and the press.

“It’s a shock so soon after taking the job seven months ago,” said Sir Alex.

“He is a man of great experience. He took Brazil to the World Cup and won it and was the obvious choice to replace Avram Grant in the summer.

“It is a sign of the times I am afraid. There is absolutely no patience in the world now. It seems to be more volatile now.

“You cannot always blame the Press but they play a part.
