For many years he had the most famous toothless gums in England. 68 year old World Cup winner Nobby Stiles suffered a minor stroke last week and spent two days in hospital but is now recovering at home according to his agent Terry Baker. The Manchester United sixties legend suffered disorientation which was diagnosed as a Transient Ischaemic Attack and is expected to undergo surgery in a few weeks.

Club legend Gary Pallister was transferred to Manchester United from Middlesbrough just prior to the 1989-90 season for a then record fee of £2.3 million. He made an ordinary start in which the transfer fee seemed to affect his form but soon began to put in the great performances he would become known for. The 6 foot 4 inch central defender went from strength to strength, forming the backbone of United’s defence for nine years winning a major trophy in every season except 1994-95.

Former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho has not even got himself familiar with the plush surroundings of Real Madrid’s Estadio Santiago Bernabéu Stadium after signing a four year contract last week yet media speculation has already begun predicting that it will only be a matter of time before the two time European Champions League winner ends up following Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford when he decides to call it a day.
