Let's be perfectly clear. This is NOT about Manchester United defender Rafael being red carded in the scoreless draw against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon. That incident was simply the latest example of the injustices which happen in football all too frequently. All clubs have suffered by them but there's absolutely no reason why they should continue to occur. Huge amounts of money can depend on those type of split second decisions. They can make the difference between championships being won or lost, gain a money spinning spot in European competition and can even result in the ultimate penalty of relegation. The sad fact is that all these controversies can be so easily eliminated!

If you thought that the FIFA World Rankings are wacky and worse, if Inter Milan can be labelled the best club side in the world after doing no more than defeating a team of Korean unknowns and a bunch of amateurs from the Congo, try getting your head around this. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been named the “The World‘s best Coach of the 1st Decade of the 21st Century” by IFFHS – 'The International Football Federation of History & Statistics’ an organisation which is officially recognised by FIFA. Wenger finished with 156 points, 8 ahead of Sir Alex Ferguson and 21 more than Jose Mourinho. Remember that what's known as a 'manager' in England is referred to as a 'coach' in most parts of the world.

Common sense dictates that Manchester United could, should and will get past the Liverpool third round FA Cup hurdle on Sunday but nothing can be taken for granted in football and there can be no better example than last season's 0-1 home defeat by Leeds United to ram home that message. Like every other United fan, I crave defeating the Scousers and obtain safe passage to the fourth round BUT, if the unexpected should happen, I would much rather suffer a painful loss than face the prospect of an unwanted replay that in the bigger scheme of things, United can do without.
