The odds against Manchester United hitting the net seven times against Blackburn Rovers without star striker Wayne Rooney getting on the scoresheet would have been enormous yet that’s exactly what happened at Old Trafford as Dimitar Berbatov stole the show with a five goal haul. United had threatened to hammer someone all season with a hatful of chances going begging in most of their previous games but it all came together in a sparkling performance which took them to the top of the table for the first time in this campaign.

It’s now official. Manchester United has made an announcement that the club has completed the deal for 26 year old Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard in which it stated that “Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Aalesunds FK to sign Danish international goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard on a 3½ year deal for an undisclosed fee. Personal terms have been agreed with the player, who passed a medical in Manchester. Anders will train with United during December but will be ineligible to play until the transfer window opens in January 2011.

The Premier League was introduced to English football in 1992-93 with Manchester United claiming the first two titles but then a determined Blackburn Rovers came along in 1994-95 to prevent a hat trick. Together with a moment of madness from cult hero Eric Cantona at Crystal Palace, a third successive title was narrowly prevented by a big spending Rovers side managed by former Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.
