A Good Tonic To Overcome A Disappointment


4-1 is what the score board read at Old Trafford at the end of 90 minutes in Manchester United’s first game after the massive disappointment of the very early exit from the Champions League. Pre- game, I had called this match to be close as Wolverhampton Wanderers have run us close in our three encounters last season and even managed to beat us at Molinuex in the Premier League. Into the Unknown sea of the Europa League!


Two exits within the space of a week. That is the reality of the season so far for Manchester United; one that started so brightly with good, positive football that had us all purring and brimming with confidence and enthusiasm for the season ahead as we got goals after goals. Instead, we now stare at the unknown. The unknown comes in the shape of the Europa League, a competition we have not won in whatever guise it has been in and a competition we had not planned to play in. Thoughts after Man United victory over Otelul Galati


Man United got what they want from their game against Otelul Galati, full three points, yesterday at Old Trafford. But we noticed some considerable points that need to be reviewed.

It seems Michael Owen, who Sir Alex Ferguson is waiting for the results of a scan on the thigh injury he picked yesterday, has no luck when starting a game with United unless it is in the League Cup. I hope it is not serious and he will feature soon. Although he has a good scoring ratio, I really can say it is Owen’s final season with Man United as Sir Alex Ferguson has a limit on waiting injury prone players (remember Dion Dublin, Jasper Blomqvist, Louis Saha and Owen Hargreaves!).
