VIDEO: Cantona’s finest moment – or so he says


If  the question was ever asked as to what the most dramatic single moment in a football match has been, many would opt for the Zinedine Zidane head butt on Italy’s Marco Materazzi in the final of the 2006 World Cup in front of a world wide audience of more than 700 million people. But was it?  Just as many will argue that the infamous kung fu-style kick on a fan in the stands by another Frenchman was even more astonishing. Who can ever forget that breathtaking moment? Yet even today, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona rates that 1995 incident as the ‘best memory of my career’

Vidic joins the long list of great United skippers


Perhaps more than any other club, Manchester United has been blessed with many leaders over the years. Not all of them were club captains but legends like Bill Foulkes, Bobby Charlton, Martin Buchan, Bryan Robson, Steve Bruce, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand immediately come to mind, all had the great leadership qualities which played a major role in guiding the club to so much success. Current skipper Nemanja Vidic can now be added to that list. Since coming to Old Trafford from Spartak Moscow five years ago, the big Serbian central defender has developed into a colossus who is one of the favourites to pick up this season’s PFA Player of the Year award in the next few weeks. Vidic spoke with Gemma Thompson from Inside United magazine, where he gave his views on being a Red.

How an Arsenal fan came to revere Sir Alex


If you are anything like me, reading a good book on a lazy Sunday is one of the most enjoyable times of the week – unless you have a game to watch which in this day and age happens more often than I would like. Call me an old fart if you want but a 3pm kick off on a Saturday afternoon is what I grew up with and freely admit that I yearn for the return of those long gone days. For those who may feel the same way, Truly Reds will therefore attempt to review one of the many Manchester United related books each Sunday which may tempt you to go out an get for a relaxing weekend read.
