To think that this madness will continue until August, it’s enough to do your head in! Who’s being chased by who, who’s staying, who’s definitely going, transfer fees resembling telephone numbers thrown around like confetti even though most football fans will have difficulty comprehending their enormity. Then of course there are the huge wages offered to tempt players some of whom are barely out of their teens. Little wonder that it’s known as the silly season.

Talk of revenge filled the air when fate decided that Germany’s Bayern Munich and Manchester United should meet in a blockbuster quarter final during this weeks European Champions League draw. The two glamour clubs had produced that dramatic 1999 Nou Camp final where United completed a historic treble in the dying seconds of a game which appeared certain to reward Bayerns almost entire 90 minutes of dominance with a deserved 1-0 victory until football proved that miracles can and do happen!

Manchester United will be attempting to win the Football League Cup for the fourth time when they take on Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
That trophy has been known as the Carling Cup since the 2002/03 season, one of a number of names it has been known by since it came into being in 1960/61 so here’s a question to test the memory of all you history buffs. What was it called when captain Steve Bruce lifted the cup for the first time for United in 1991/92?
